IUF Random Game Selection Method

All IUF Games are randomly determined using the following steps

Step 1. Nationalities (three 6-sided dice)

1 2 3 Axis Allies Pct
1-2 1-2 - German Russian 11.00%
1-2 3-4 - German American 11.00%
1-2 5-6 - German British 11.00%
3-4 1-3 - Japanese American 16.50%
3-4 4 - Japanese Russian 5.50%
3-4 5 - Japanese British 5.50%
3-4 6 - German French 5.50%
5-6 1 - German Russian 5.50%
5-6 2 - Italian Russian 5.50%
5-6 3 - Italian British 5.50%
5-6 4 1-3 Italian American 2.75%
5-6 4 4-6 Italian French 2.75%
5-6 5 1-3 Japanese French 2.75%
5-6 5 4-6 French American 2.75%
5-6 6 1-3 French Russians 2.75%
5-6 6 4-6 French British 2.75%

Percentages of all games that will involve each nationality:

German 44%
Japanese 30%
Italian 17%
American 33%
British 25%
Russian 30%
French 19%

Step 2. Scenario

Randomly determine scenario from those available to both nationalities giving equal weight to each possible scenario that those two nationalities can play.

The following percentages represent the chance of getting a particular scenario in any given IUF matchup. N, O, S occur rarely because only the Japanese/Americans/British may play them.

A-H, K-M, P, T-X 5.11%
R 4.95%
Q 3.27%
I 1.11%
N, O, S 0.99%

Step 3. Axis/Ally & Attacker/Defender

Determine which side (Server/Client) will be Axis and which side will be attacker.

Step 4. Night Rules

1 in 10 chance of night rules in any game.

Step 5. Desert Rules

1 in 6 chance of desert rules in any game unless either player is Russian or Japanese.

Notes:

Since nationalities are chosen before scenario, some scenarios; such as I, N, and S, appear much less frequently than others. IUF by default generates random games using the above procedure; use the PlayIUF front end if you want to select a specific scenario and nationalities.
